Discover Sound

"Mythic Journeys" is the featured film in this event sponsored by the Pacifica Graduate Institute. Bainbridge Island is a quick ferry-ride across Puget Sound from Seattle. The two-day event begins with a screening of the film at the Historic Lynwood Theatre followed by a VIP Reception. The next day there will be a forum with guest panelists and mini-workshops.

This remarkable film is framed by the classic folk tale, "The Bone Orchard," brought to life through stop-motion puppets designed by internationally acclaimed artists Brian and Wendy Froud (THE DARK CRYSTAL, LABYRINTH) and voiced by three of Hollywood's most acclaimed actors:

• Tim Curry is a noble king whose life or death depends on delivering a hanging corpse to a mysterious sorcerer.
• Lance Henriksen is the necromancer who gives him the strange assignment and may or may not be trustworthy.
• Mark Hamill is just your regular dead-body-come-to-life with a cutting wit and a Scheherazade-like skill for storytelling and riddles.

In between this imaginative narrative are interviews with some of the world's leading mythologists, psychologists, and spiritual leaders, including Deepak Chopra, Michael Meade, Michael Beckwith, Sobonfu Somé, Tom Blue Wolf, Steven Aizenstat, Robert Walter (president of the Joseph Campbell Foundation), and Michael Karlin and Honora Foah, co-presidents of the Mythic Imagination Institute.

Directed by Steven and Whitney Boe
Music by Stuart Balcomb
